STRIKE ONE: SWIFT ACTION?

On December 12, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested over 1,200 undocumented meat processing workers in six states. Yet, no civil or criminal charges were brought against their employer or their union. Why not?

STRIKE TWO: DON'T FENCE ME IN!

The same week, executives of a fence-building company in California admitted that they had hired ten illegal workers. They agreed to pay a fine of $5 million. They may also go to prison. Guess who hired their company to build a 14-mile fence in the 1990s.

STRIKE THREE: COMINGS & GOINGS

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has spent almost $2 billion (Yes, that's "Billion", Dr. Evil!) on the "U.S.-VISIT" system. The system is designed to record biometric information on the tens of millions of visitors, students and other nonimmigrants who enter and exit the U.S. each year. The Government Accountability Office (GAO) issued a 100-page report in December which casts doubt on whether the system can be fully implemented. What's the problem?
