Your Name:

  1. B. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright was born in Czechoslovakia. She fled her native country for England because of the Nazi takeover. Her family returned after the war only to seek refugee status in the U.S. when the Communists seized power. "People ask me how would my parents feel today", states Secretary Albright, "and I say my parents are looking down and feeling incredibly proud of the achievement of their daughter and proud of this country of great tolerance that allowed a two-time refugee to serve as the senior member of the Cabinet."

  2. C. Andrew "Andy" Grove is the President and CEO of Intel Corporation, the world's leading producer of integrated circuits, which provide the "brains" for personal computers. He is the author of "Only the Paranoid Survive". Born Adras Grof, he fled his native Hungary during the 1956 Soviet invasion.

  3. C. Ann-Margret, winner of five Golden Globe Awards and two Oscar nominations. She was born Ann-Margaret Olsson in Valsjobyn, Jamtland, Sweden.

  4. B. When American novelist Saul Bellow won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1976, the citation read "For the human understanding and subtle analysis of contemporary culture that are combined in his work." Although Bellow was educated at Northwestern University and later taught at the University of Chicago, his birthplace is in Quebec, Canada.

  5. B. Andres Arturo Garcia-Menendez came to America as a five-year-old refugee. A highly-acclaimed actor, he is currently starring in "Night Falls on Manhattan". Andy Garcia was born in 1956 in Havana, Cuba.

  6. C. Born Juan Secada in Havana, Cuba in 1962, Jon and his family were accepted as refugees in the U.S. in 1971. His family's attempt to apply to leave Cuba legally landed Jon's father in a work camp for over a year. Upon arriving in the U.S., Jon quickly learned English, eventually earning a Master's degree at the University of Miami. Singer, songwriter and actor, Jon is a Grammy Award winner whose album sales are in the millions.

  7. B. and C. Score two if you guessed right. Elizabeth Taylor, who won Oscars for Best Actress twice, once for "Butterfield 8" and again for "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" was born in London, England of American parents. Angela Lansbury, known by millions as "Jessica Fletcher" in TV's "Murder, She Wrote", shares Liz's birthplace. As early as 1944, the two actresses were paired as sisters Velvet and Edwina Brown in the film classic "National Velvet".

  8. B. William Shatner encountered his fair share of aliens when he played his most famous role, that of Captain James T. Kirk on TV's "Star Trek". Although he currently divides his time between his ranch in northern California, his horsebreeding interests in Kentucky, and a home in Los Angeles, Captain Kirk originally hails from Montreal, Canada where his father was a clothing manufacturer.

  9. B. Derek Walcott the winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1992, was born in the West Indian Island of St. Lucia. His writing reflects his own mixed African, English and Dutch heritage.

  10. C. and D. Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young - all singers, songwriters and guitarists - second live appearance was before a half million people at the Woodstock Festival in August 1969. Neil Young, though he first achieved stardom with the LA Band "Buffalo Springfield", was born in Toronto, Canada. Graham Nash who performed with the "Hollies" during most of the 1960s was born in England. He became a citizen of the U.S. in 1978. Apparently, the immigration examiner who interviewed him was unaware of Nash's song "Immigration Man" which poked fun at the Immigration Service.
